TP-Link 8-Port Gigabit PoE Switch (TL-SG1210P): Power All Your IP Cameras with One Device

In a traditional CCTV installation, each camera needs two things: a coaxial cable for video and a power adapter at the camera location. IP CCTV systems eliminate the power adapter entirely using Power over Ethernet (PoE). The TP-Link TL-SG1210P 8-Port Gigabit PoE Switch delivers both power and network connectivity to each camera through a single Cat6 cable, dramatically simplifying installation and centralising power management.
How PoE Works and Why It Changes Everything
PoE injects DC power into the Cat6 cable alongside the data signal. The camera separates the power from the data at its input port and runs entirely from the cable. This means your NVR room or security cabinet holds all the power equipment — the PoE switch and its UPS — and all 8 cameras stay live during power cuts as long as the UPS is running. With separate power adapters, you would need a UPS at each of 8 camera locations.
