The most common question we receive from new CCTV buyers is also the most uncomfortable one to answer honestly: how much should this actually cost? Most dealers dodge the question or give a vague range. We are going to give you real numbers based on what we install every single week across India.

These prices assume genuine branded products from Hikvision, Dahua, or CP Plus, professional installation, surveillance grade hard drive, and basic accessories.

Small Shop or Home (2 Cameras)

Components needed: 2 bullet or dome cameras at 2MP, 4 channel DVR or NVR, 1TB Skyhawk hard drive, SMPS, cables, BNC connectors, basic installation.

Honest price range in 2026: 9000 to 14000 rupees complete.

Avoid anyone quoting below 7000 rupees. They are cutting corners somewhere.

Medium Shop or Home (4 Cameras)

Components needed: 4 cameras mix of 2MP and 4MP, 4 channel DVR or NVR, 2TB hard drive, SMPS or PoE switch, cables, installation.

Honest price range: 16000 to 24000 rupees complete.

For 4MP throughout and brand premium: 22000 to 30000 rupees.

Large Shop, Office, Clinic, or Restaurant (8 Cameras)

Components needed: 8 cameras at 4MP or 5MP, 8 channel NVR, 4TB hard drive, PoE switch, full cable runs, professional installation.

Honest price range: 32000 to 50000 rupees complete.

With premium models, ColorVu cameras, or full IP setup: 50000 to 75000.

Warehouse, Factory, School, or Multi Floor Setup (16 Cameras)

Components needed: 16 mixed cameras including PTZ and outdoor IP66, 16 channel NVR, 6TB to 8TB hard drive, multiple PoE switches, UPS, cable trays, structured installation.

Honest price range: 75000 to 140000 rupees complete.

What Affects the Price the Most

Brand choice: Premium brands cost 15 to 25 percent more, but last 2x longer.

Camera resolution: Going from 2MP to 5MP adds about 30 percent. Going to 8MP adds another 25 to 40 percent.

Cable length and difficulty: Long runs through false ceilings or across multiple floors add significant labour cost.

PoE versus DVR analog: Full IP PoE setups cost 20 to 35 percent more upfront but are much more reliable.

Accessories like UPS, surge protection, lockable cabinets: Add 3000 to 8000 rupees to any package.

Red Flags to Watch

A quote significantly below these ranges almost always means refurbished cameras, no warranty, desktop hard drives, or no proper installation.

A quote significantly above these ranges from anyone who is not adding clear premium value is likely overpriced.

Always ask for itemised quotes with model numbers, capacities, and warranty terms. Any genuine dealer will provide this in writing without hesitation.
